New update adds ShopKeep Logo to item screen.

New update. First off we like using the ShopKeep app. Today there was a new update that stated bug fixes. After I updated the first thing I saw was the Shop Keep logo on the item screen. My employees don't like it, they say it is too distracting. I'm paying 50.00 a month for the service and I don't think I should be bombarded with the ShopKeep logo you don't have to sell me, I already use the app. I also think there should be a way to turn of shopkeep.com on the receipt. If the service was free I could live with logo everywhere. ShopKeep is advertised more than my company name is on the app. I would rather see my monthly fee go to adding a quantity tab and a credit card button for us that use a credit card terminal for processing.

This is just my opinion.

  • Hi Randy,

    Very valid points on showing ShopKeep name and logo. We will consider giving the option to remove the name on the receipts.

    The screensaver (where the logo shows) is just that a screen saver. You can turn it off though. Just go to settings on the iPad then ShopKeep settings and set the screensaver timeout to never show.

    Next you can sign up for credit card processing through the app. If you already have a card processing company we can move it from the terminal to ShopKeep. You would need to have the person who set you up with that terminal call us at 800-820-9814 to find out how. Or if you would like to sign up with a new processing account we can help there too just call us. The swiper costs $150 and it available on our website at shop.shopkeep.com.

    I'm not talking about the screen saver , I have already turned that off. The new update adds the ShopKeep logo to the item screen where you ring up the items it is on the left hand side and takes up a little more than 1/4 of the screen.

    I have called about the credit card processing and they couldn't touch my 1.25% rate that is why I still process through a terminal. My processing company doesn't work through your company.

    We use the first screen for manually entering prices, how come everytime there's an update it moves those around and you can't rearrange them through the back office either?

    and the point Jason makes that we can change our already working CC services just to accomodate the use of a button is really really lame.

  • The open item screen which is the left most screen does not yet allow arrangement. We will work on that for the future.

    When looking at your credit card rates the best way to look at it is your effective rate. Take the total amount you were charged for processing Amex, Visa, Master-card. Then divide by the total dollar value charged on those cards. Depending on your average ticket it will be 3-5%. Remember that per transaction charge can add up especially on small ticket items.

    Our average sale is 40.00-50.00 so at the low end 40.00 @ 3% would be 1.20 with our processor now it is 1.25% +.20 per transaction so a 40.00 sale would be .50 +.20 that equals .70 . I can see where the .20 per transaction would not be good with lower price items. We have done all the math, because we have been looking at the square app, since they have added the star printer driver and have made the app more like a cash register with assigned buttons.

    Is there a easy way to get our keys back in order for the first screen?

    Also on the register timeout settings, it says to leave the fields empty to turn off the screensaver. I have tried, but the fields wont stay cleared and the screensaver still comes on.

    I have noticed in the latest version that it is very buggy. The application shuts down and goes back to the home screen. The application doesn't crash but having to click the app a couple of times is very annoying. Also I agree, having shopkeep.com everywhere for a paid app is not something I feel that should be promptly displayed on the receipt. If people are actually interested we tell them what app we use. Is there timeout available on the iPad app yet?

    I know what you mean. I have deleted the latest version and installed the older version. We couldn't run the latest update for crashing and freezing. I wont be updating anytime soon til the bug fixes are listed.
