Integrate scales

It would be nice to be able to hook up scales to weigh food items. Another competitor has that but charges a lot more (Revel Systems)

We have plans to integrate scales with our Registers. Can't say quite yet when it will happen but sometime in the near future.

I'm in need to this ability as well. However I'd be content with manually entering/ changing the quantity (ie weight) from an external scale. Is there any way to set the units to lbs and manually change quantity to say 1.34 lbs? If a scale is being integrated when is that feature gonna be available? I'm ready to transition to shopkeep but need a temporary workaround for this.

I currently am running a grocery/farmers market. I weigh a lot of my items.

  Not sure this is what you're looking for, but if you change the price from "in backoffice" to "store" in the inventory you can add the item price in at the time of sale.
  
  That's what we're doing with our weighed items like veggies and meats.

  Thanks Gerald! That actually solved 90% of my problem, since I prepack most of my veggies with pricing already on it. Now the last 10% is items that are not pre-packed.
  
  ie. Onions that I want to set a price of .99 cents a pound in shopkeep. when that item is called i want the number pad to pop up and allow me to manually enter a qty, in this case would be a weight qty. 1.25 pounds. with the extended price showing. .99 cents x 1.25 lbs. Do you know of another work around for this?

  We currently do the same for loose produce. We weigh it and get the total price - tell the customer the price and enter it in under the produce type, ie "Onions". If you really wanted the price per pound on the receipt you could name it "Onions $1.99 lb" and then use the "in store" feature and enter the total - though you wouldn't get the total weight.

  truplegem88: I set the item to priced in store and weigh with an external scale that gives me the $ based on lbs. It's not super fast, but it's a reasonable method until the priced by weight feature comes out.
  
  Gerald: I like the idea of writing the $/lb in the item title. Never thought of that...

  I should note that our raw goods feature allows you to sell pre-set items at at a decimal point that take out of a set amount of a raw good, so if you have 10 lb of coffee, you can sell 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 lb bags of it that will deduct from that raw good total every time they're sold. It's not exactly scales integration, but it might help you keep better track in selling pre-packaged goods by weight.
