Using the cherry tools designer software select the key you want and select 'Single key' under keyboard programming and 'Enable software settings' under Software programming.
The next part is a little complicated so I included a picture. Essentially you are programming it to use the 'Tab' button to cycle to the 'Open items' button and then enter the store code.
As you type in the keys you will notice that it enters the 'key-down' and 'key-up' every time you press a key. I found that this created some inconsistencies for the tab and enter button so I removed the key-up which is not needed. However I would not take them out for the number keystrokes as the numbers will be entered to quickly.
Remember to use the delete button in the designer software (if you hit delete or anything else on your keyboard it will just include that in the program sequence)
The little numbers that you see [0.1] and [0.5] are delays between keystrokes and are necessary to allow shopkeep to process things, especially after hitting enter. You may need to play with the timing as it might not be the same on every system. To do that there is a box on the right where you specify the length of delay and hit insert.
